Synopsis
Amelia van Zandt (Ida Lupino) a beautiful yet icy spinster, works as a warden at a female prison, where she continually inflicts unjustly harsh punishments on the inmates. When Amelia learns that prisoner Joan Burton (Audrey Totter) has been having secret late-night trysts with her husband, Glen (Warren Stevens), a convict in the neighboring men's prison, and she is now pregnant, the jealous warden snaps and beats Joan to death. The murder causes the female cons to riot and come after Amelia.
