Last of the Mississippi Jukes

Documentary
Synopsis
In this documentary, director Robert Mugge explores the history and culture of blues clubs -- dubbed juke joints -- in Mississippi. Though the number of juke bars continues to dwindle, a small group of music enthusiasts attempts to keep the tradition alive by fighting to save the Subway, a legendary jazz and blues dive that is about to be torn down. Meanwhile, actor Morgan Freeman shows off his own venue, the Ground Zero Blues Club, where both obscure and legendary Delta Blues musicians perform.
