Nine ordinary Americans open their homes to an inmate recently released from prison; across the country, these individuals are on separate journeys but share a single motivating force: to help formerly incarcerated individuals re-enter society.
In Colorado, Daniel travels to pick up Deven from prison; former inmate Aaron moves in with social studies teacher; Cyndi wants the companionship of Jennifer, but quickly realizes she may have bitten off more than she can chew.
Vada attempts to calm the waters between Mark and Analisa; former inmate Deven visits his sister in Colorado, but questions linger about his sobriety; Cyndi picks up Jennifer from jail and things immediately become awkward.
Emily prepares for inmate Jason to move into her home, but she soon begins to regret her decision. Jennifer moves into Cyndi's house, which is in complete disarray. Roommate David divulges a jaw-dropping detail about his past. Deven struggles to get to Cathy and Daniel's house in time to check in with his parole officer. And when former Inmate Mark goes missing, roommates Analisa and Vada are dubious about his whereabouts.
