The Wheel

—"The Wheel" puts a new spin on the adventure series genre by linking the moon's phases to the types of deadly terrains survivalists try to conquer. Six players -- none are typical survival experts, but rather everyday people who have something to prove -- are dropped in six distinctly different, treacherous landscapes across South America. Unbeknownst to the players, the time they spend at each spot is determined by the lunar calendar; with every phase of the moon, "the wheel" turns and sends each person to a new eco-zone. Equipped only with light survival packs and devices that can be used at any time to quit the challenge and call for help, participants must fight for their lives by procuring food, water and shelter. And when the wheel turns again, they are thrust into a new location, forced to use a completely different set of skills while attempting to survive six lethal environments over the course of 60 days.

Season 18 of 8 Episodes

  • With minimal supplies, a wrestler, a plumber, a fitness model, a former Marine, a nurse and an ultra-marathoner face a gauntlet.

  • Ripped from their first location, participants must start over in another extreme ecozone; Luke battles caimans for supremacy of the wetlands; Lindsay searches for water in 105-degree heat.

  • The second location takes a mental toll; Lindsay makes a fateful decision; caimans hunt Luke in the wetlands; Shon's struggle for food pushes him to the brink; Adam fails to make fire and suffers the consequences.

  • Shon makes a spear launcher while Luke returns to hunting alligator; Adam and Josh struggle to find water and make fire.

  • Lindsay shrinks to an unhealthy weight; Luke catches fish, but struggles to stave of the isolation; Shon's body shuts down.

  • Shon's fate is decided; the participants enter Phase Four; Lindsay's hopes are dashed by the barren Tundra; Adam forages in the Wetlands, but is wrecked by caimans; Luke faces the ultimate mountain challenge.

  • Lindsay finishes her rations; Adam has a breakthrough; the Wheel turns to Phase Five; Luke hopes to catch the first Tundra fish; Adam's fishing net comes unraveled in the Bush Plains.

  • The final Wheel turn sends Luke to the island where relentless rain has crushed two participants; Adam heads to the brutal cold of the mountains.
