Ocean Warriors

More about Ocean Warriors

Animal Planet dedicates six hourlong episodes to the cause of ocean conservation, spotlighting a global network of activists, journalists and scientists who risk their lives to battle poachers and organized crime on the high seas. These unlikely heroes with a passion for justice engage in high-adrenaline missions to track down a new breed of outlaws threatening not just marine life but the entire planet. In Tanzania, biologists strive to save coral reefs from blast fishing. In Thailand, poachers pillage ancestral fishing grounds. And Greenpeace patrols for illegal shark fishing on the waters of the Pacific. Co-executive producer Robert Redford describes the oceans as in crisis because of climate change, pollution and illegal over-fishing, and he says the series serves as a call to "take up the charge to protect our oceans for future generations."
